Have been reading a couple of books recently (I have never liked reading all my life!) and am beginning to see the value of reading especially useful books that can empower me to improve myself.
It feels AWESOME that everyday I am learning new things all over again!
However, there came a point where I begin to ask myself how can I make use of the additional knowledge that I am gaining? Is it really useful if I just read and learn but do not know how to use?
I guess the answer is clear. To really benefit from reading, I must DO what I learn.
Thus, I made up my mind to do the following. Every time I finish reading a book, I will do a MIND MAP (I’m now reading Tony Buzan’s The Mind Map Book (Mind Set) and will begin with this) on what I learned from the book.
Next, I will take at least one thing that I learned from the book and put it to ACTION! For example, if the book is about Creating a Website, I will proceed to purchase a domain, get hosting, start learning more about using FrontPage or Dreamweaver etc. You get the point…
With this commitment to act, I know that my end result is going to multiply as compared to only reading book after book.
I also learned that by reading books from different genres, it is confusing to my mind and I can’t really focus on my topic of interest. So the other thing for me to do is to concentrate on one or two topics (maximum three) and fully focus on reading books that relate to the specific topics until I gain sufficient knowledge in that field.
Thank you for reading my post. To show my appreciation, here is a FREE ebook titled As A Man Thinketh. Read it, and apply an ACTION after you’ve finished. See if it made a difference in your life.
