I discovered through a series of book reading and seminars I attended that one of the reasons why I am what I am now is because of the lack of the mindset to succeed in what I want to do. And I have reasons to believe that it has to do with my education from young. Since young, we were taught that we need to study hard in order to go into a good school, get a good degree and end up with a good job. Well, I didn’t study too hard, but I still manage to squeeze myself a degree. However, I am still where I am today because I did not develop for myself the right mindset to my life. I studied for the sake of studying, worked for the sake of working, and lived for the sake of living. Today, I came to realize that life did not have to turn out this way, and I can change it the way I want to live it. Lucky for me, I still have time to start changing.
While my success may come late (future), I am now giving my own child a head start. Realizing the importance of setting the right mindset for my daughter, Jade, my wife and I are beginning to expose her to positive things on every opportunity. We bought audio CDs that talk about the right attitudes, we brought her along when we attend high energy seminars and trainings, and we constantly instill the right thinking pattern to her.
Of course, there are instances where a small child like her makes mistakes. While I grew up getting reprimanded for mistakes, we now try to educate her in a different manner. Instead of scolding her, we will ask her what went wrong, what she have learned from the mistake, and how she could have avoided it or done better. I find that this is a very good way of letting her learn herself instead of me telling her what she should have done.
To me, whether my daughter can get a degree in future is of low importance. More importantly, she must grow up with a positive attitude and face all challenges the right way. With the right mindset towards life, I believe that she will achieve great things in her life, and we will be proud that apart from our love, we have given her the best gift in the world – Positive Education.
With that, I invite you to visit her blog as http://jade-lee.blogspot.com for me to share my love for her, with you.
