National Achievers Congress 2014

National Achievers Congress 2014

Over the weekend, I attended the National Achievers Congress 2014 in Resort World Sentosa.

This is a yearly event featuring many outstanding speakers around the world who have come together to share their knowledge with participants.

Among the many speakers and leaders, I am particularly attracted to the following speakers. They are:

1. Peng Joon

2. Brendon Burchard

3. Andrew Matthews

4. Tom Hopkins

5. Nick Vujicicnick vujicic

I chanced upon Peng Joon’s website some time back and found that he is a very promising young man who has earned his success on the Internet. From his website, I also found him to be someone who delivers great value to his followers. I am particularly keen on learning his mindset towards success as I can feel that he sees things very differently from the average person like myself, especially at such a young age.

I am also grateful for the chance to see Andrew Matthews on stage. Although this is the first time I come to know this gentleman, I find that his lessons are very meaningful to me even though his presentation was not as dynamic as some of the other speakers. Still, he managed to capture my interests throughout his entire presentation. Perhaps it is due to his clever use of cartoons to illustrate his points. I bought his book “How Life Works” and am reading it right now. He illustrates the law of attraction in a simple yet effective and easy to understand manner.

I am not going to describe the other speakers one by one as I know they are already very successful people and most people should know them. But I am going to summarise and share some of the lessons I learned in these 3 days.

Some of the things I learned:

  • Happiness is a choice.
  • Pain is inevitable but misery is a choice.
  • How to combat negative things? – Look for ONE GOOD THING in your life.
  • How do you eat an elephant? One BITE at a time.
  • The best way to live your life is to live your life for others.
  • When you talk to people, it’s 80% about them and 20% about you.
  • Employees are hired for skills and fired for behaviour.
  • It is a blessing to be breathing, and that I can make a difference to others.
  • Did you show up each day living your life?
  • Did I live?
  • Did I love?
  • Did I matter?
  • What’s important is – I’m here!
  • You have a second chance in your life, every second of your life.
  • We don’t only live once. We live everyday. We only die once.
  • What stops us from going for our dreams is settling for something else.
  • There are two types of dreams. The first type is dreams you go to sleep with. The second is dreams you wake up for.

National Achievers Congress 2014

Overall, these are 3 well spent days for me as I have indeed learned many things. I am truly inspired by Nick Vujicic as he has truly demonstrated that it is not circumstances that define us. I am also grateful to Success Resources for organising this event and that my wife, my daughter and I had the privilege to attend and learn from successful people. I look forward to the next National Achievers Congress in 2015.
