Found some time to share some twitter tips. Here goes:
When I was first introduced to twitter, I signed up for an account, gave it a tweet, and then did not know what to do with it for 5 months.
I believe there are many others that are like me. If you are lost like I was, I would like to share how I am using twitter now.
- I use twitter as a mini blog to connect with readers. Twitter is limited to 140 characters so it’s a good way for me to share short messages. It can be anything that is meaningful, funny or quoted from another source. I can also find something nice to read about from people I follow.
- Getting traffic to my blog. I update my followers of any updates on my blog. Doing this enhances my blog exposure especially for the ones who are interested in what I have to blog about. With twitter, it serves as a reminder everytime I tweet about a new blog update.
- Just simple updates. I sometimes use twitter to update what I am doing. Like preparing to go for a holiday, enjoying a cup of coffee, excited about going to the movies. To me, it is a great way of simply ‘voicing out’.
- Get ideas or doing research. Sometimes, you can get good ideas and suggestions from your followers. Simply ask a question like ‘Which type of music should I listen while I jog?’ and be amazed at some of the answers that come your way.
There are many other ways you can use twitter. You can also use it to make money, especially if you are doing internet marketing. You can use it to sell a product, promote an affiliate link etc. There are also many ways that you can add your follow up list. In fact, if you look hard enough, there are also softwares that will send tweets automatically on your behalf. The twivert is an example where you can sign up and it automatically posts ads on your behalf. You get paid if your followers click on the ads. Try it! It’s free anyway.
And by the way, try not to spam using twitter. It’s not really nice for your followers to keep getting promotional messages. Once or twice a day should be fine. And if you like this post, I would be honored if you can add me to your list.
