Dreams – What You Expect And What You Accept

standingEveryone has got some dreams we want to achieve in our lives. Some of these dreams come from people who achieved them and in return, we are inspired to achieve the same dreams.

We may dream of making a five-figure income, owning a luxury or sports car, owning a million dollar property, or having a big team of followers.

These are what we want to achieve one day. However, at the same time, we may have some beliefs that are stopping us from achieving our dreams. This is what we call our “Level of Acceptance”.

Simply put, the “Level of Acceptance” is the level we are willing to accept. In other words, while we may dream of earning a five-figure income, say $30,000 a month, our belief system is sending us a different signal – we are willing to accept or settle for $3,000 a month. Or while we are dreaming of living in a multi-million landed property and driving a luxury car, we are willing to accept living in a public flat and taking public transport.

In other words, it is ok that we live with a lower standard of living than what we dream of.

There is nothing wrong with living in a public flat or taking public transport, However, your beliefs and self-image will determine your level of expectation and level of acceptance in life, and you will always get what you accept in life.

You may have set a goal, even in writing and made a public declaration that you want to make or earn $30,000 a month, but as long as you are willing to accept just $3,000 a month, $3,000 is exactly what you will get.

Why? Because the $3,000 is the level of acceptance in which you have made a ‘must’ for you to achieve. Nothing more, nothing less.

This is your minimum level. This is your tolerance level. Anything below this level your mind will automatically not accept and will do whatever it takes to get above that.

The difference between someone who makes $30,000 a month and someone who makes $3,000 a month is their level of acceptance. The difference in value is simply due to the difference in their self worth. They simply cannot accept making less than $30,000 a month. If their income falls short of $30,000, they will do whatever it takes to make sure it gets back to the level they believe they deserve.

Take Donald Trump, the real estate tycoon, for example. Trump filed a $5 billion lawsuit against an author by the name Timothy O’Brien in 2006 simply because the latter called him a millionaire in his book.

Donald TrumpTrump was furious and filed the lawsuit because he simply cannot accept that he is a mere millionaire when he is a billionaire. His level of acceptance can never fall short of a billion. Now that is some self worth.

Your Acceptance Levels

Knowing the difference between level of expectation and level of acceptance is not going to be useful unless you know your acceptance levels, and work towards raising them.

Otherwise, we will never achieve our goals and our dreams. If you want to make more money, then you have to raise your standard of what you can accept. If you want to make a five-figure income, then accept no less of your income to be less than five-figure. If you want to have a nice and fit looking body, then accept no reason for being off your target weight.

Make it a MUST for you and raise your standards.
