I have just finished reading Adam Khoo’s latest book Winning The Game Of Life!. Anyone who reads my blog will know that Adam is someone who has made a huge impact in my life after attending his Patterns of Excellence program in 2009.

I have read many of Adam’s books before and Winning The Game Of Life! is just as refreshing and empowering as his other books. After reading, I felt like I have recharged my energy and is ready to give my best to achieve what I want in life.

I will probably not share the contents what you can discover in this book are

How to take control of your own destiny

What it takes to become the best in your field

Turn adversity and defeat into opportunities for success

Staying successful amidst global competition

The secret to lifelong happiness and fulfillment

How to develop talent & unleash your genius

Develop high self esteem and confidence

Model & replicate the success blueprints of top achievers

Release the emotional baggage that hold you back

How to get lucky

Achieve breakthrough results in your career, relationship and finances

Of course, all these are just summaries of the book. I would like to share more on one or two of my favourite topics in the book.

What touched me most is Chapter Fifteen: The Greatest Rewards Are Reserved for Those Who Never Quit!

There are times in life where we encounter challenges. Many of us when faced with challenges have two options: Quit or Fight!

In this chapter, Adam highlights stories of people who went through extremely tough challenges and despite facing them, they fought on for their dreams. Adam shared four believe systems that empowers people to hang on to their goals and persevere until the goals are achieved. This is very useful for me as it enables me to see myself as who I am, and who I want to be. The examples are very inspirational to read.

Another thing that I learned from the book is to acknowledge my own success and to be grateful for things that happen to me. Hence, I have started the following journals to constantly motivate myself and seek improvement. I believe that although it may seems hokey for some, it is an excellent method to help me in achieving my success.

Lastly, I strongly encourage you to buy Adam’s new book Winning The Game Of Life! and start reading. It may just change your life…

It has been a while since I found time to update my blog. Well, I have been busy learning many things since I resigned from my 13 years of employee life.

This one month plus I have been putting learning as my number one priority. And I will say that among so many things I have learned, gratitude is a very important lesson that I have unlearned to relearn.

As things continue to happen around us, one of the things that we often overlook is to appreciate and thank the things that we often take for granted. While most of us (myself included) have been trained to look at problems, when we take a step back and start to look at things from another angle, often we will find that things may not be what they seem. Things can be better. Things can look brighter.

We first have to learn to be thankful.

I am thankful.

I am thankful firstly to my parents, for having born and raised me, to have taught me the way of life. Even though I may disagree certain opinions, I am thankful to them for sharing theirs.

I am thankful to my wife Amily, for constantly showing me care and concern and standing by me no matter what happened. I am thankful for all the tolerance you demonstrate when I am unreasonable. I am thankful for your understanding when I needed it most and I am thankful that you are the mother of our precious darling Jade.

I am thankful to Jade for being a very sensible, and happy girl. Even though Daddy may intentionally provoke you at times, I am thankful that you know it is out of love. I am thankful that every time I hear the word “Daddy”, it warms my heart from deep within.

I am thankful for my family, simply for the fact that they are my family. As the saying goes, “Blood is thicker than water.” and hence, we are bonded more strongly than anyone in this world.

I am thankful to my friends, especially those who inspire me to think big and to grow bigger. I am also thankful to those who makes me believe in myself, especially my mentors.

I am thankful for the opportunities that have been presented to me and my family.

I am thankful for the experiences that I have earned.

I am thankful for having a complete body to work with.

I am thankful to know how to blog. Ha ha…

I am thankful for a lot of things and people, and I know that only when I am thankful, I am happy.

I remembered that I have previously blogged about something similar. Why am I talking about gratitude again? Simply because it is important to me. Simply because I am grateful for many things, including you, my reader.

Have a thankful day!

My sifu (teacher) Dennis Ng taught me this. To become a millionaire and be financially free, you need to invest in both stocks and property. And to achieve this, the most important element is to believe. Yes, you have to believe that you can be a millionaire first.

Is it easy to believe that I can be a millionaire?

I’ll be honest with you. It was not easy. This was because this had never crossed my mind at all. I was struggling to make even ends meet and had little savings. How can I even conceive the idea that I will be a millionaire? That was my belief. I believed that no matter how hard I work, I will never be a millionaire. That was my belief.

But what led me to have such a belief?

What made me doubt myself?

Well, believes are formed over time. They do not just happen to come in to our minds. It is formed when our thoughts are influenced by people around us. It is formed when we gain personal experiences. Today, if you believe that getting a good degree will make you rich, it is because you may have seen for yourself that someone else has done it, or because someone else has told you so. There is no right or wrong. It is your own belief.

So my beliefs that I cannot become a millionaire was formed from my past. Does this mean that I will never become a millionaire? The answer is No. Why? Because beliefs can be changed. Yes, they can change because you have a choice. The choice to change your own belief.

Besides Dennis, my Nu Skin leaders also told me the same thing. To succeed, you have to choose the right platform. There are many things that you can do to achieve financial success but choosing the right platform will ensure that you achieve your goal the right way. More importantly, do you believe that you can become successful? If you cannot hold this belief, you will not succeed.

So, as you can see from the two examples, believing in yourself is the most important factor in whatever you pursue. Today, in whatever you choose to do, always believe that you can be successful, and then take action towards your success.

But what happens if you have doubts? How can you change your beliefs?

Personally, I did not change my beliefs overnight. But I recognized the fact that my beliefs are holding me back instead of getting me where I want to go in life. Hence, I know I must change my beliefs and so I started to keep closely in touch with people who think and act differently as compared to me. I maintained close relations with positive people who always focus on positive outcomes. I stayed in touch with people who always say “I can!” I attend seminars and meetings where people inspire me with successful stories. Over time, I begin to become influenced with them and now, I too believe I can.

I would have to say it did not start easy. I felt uncomfortable when I started out ‘mixing’ with positive people. They seemed weird to me. “Why are they always full of energy?, Why are they always saying “This is a good problem”? I asked myself. But over time, I began to understand them more as I myself began to change. Over time, I felt less uncomfortable and over time, I became comfortable with the change.

How about you? Do you believe?

Do you believe that you have a lot more potential to do greater things for yourself?

Do you believe that you can do a lot more for others?

Do you believe that you can be successful?

I hope you do. Because you can, when you believe.

Everyday when you open your eyes in the morning, what is the first thought that comes to you? Five more minutes? Or ten more? Or do you jump out of bed, all excited and full of energy to start and live your day? However you feel or think, it is for you to know. Because this is your pattern, and this is how your day shall be.

Human beings are emotional creatures, and it is because of this that we act the way we act, and we think the way we think. Every decision we make is based on emotions. It had been said that we buy on emotions and we justify it by logic. I could not agree more. Hence, our emotional state plus the action we take will give us results. Results can be positive, and negative. Whatever the outcome, understand that results are always a result of our actions affected by our emotions.

But what causes us to have certain emotions? Or what causes us to have different emotions? The same event can have different effects of emotions on different people. For example, if there is a bully in class, one child may feel angry at why he is being bullied while another may feel depressed about it. Why do they have different feelings over the same event?

The answer is PATTERN!

What is pattern? Pattern here simply means the program that is running in our minds. If our minds are programmed to in a certain way, our patterns will reflect our program. For example, if your mind is programmed to think that it is ok to fail, then your pattern will be to give up easily. If your mind is programmed to think that there is no failure but only feedback, then your pattern will be to change your approach and do whatever it takes to succeed. It is simple as that.

Patterns are formed in our lives based on experiences we obtained. As we grow from young to old, patterns are formed based on beliefs that are ‘transferred’ to us through people we know, and through our own experiences in events we encountered. As a result, patterns form in our minds and it affects how we think and feel, and ultimately how we live our lifes.

Generally, there are two types of patterns.

1. Empowering patterns
2. Disempowering patterns

Empowering patterns are patterns that empowers us to achieve success in our lives. These patterns allow us to take actions towards our success in whatever we do. Disempowering patterns, on the other hand, prevents us from achieving the success we want.

What is your pattern?

When you wake up in the morning, is your pattern empowering? When you are faced with setbacks, is your pattern empowering? When you are set to embrace a new challenge, is your pattern empowering?

If yes, then I shall congratulate you as you must already be successful or on your way to success.

If not, can your pattern be changed? The answer is YES!!!

Patterns are not permanent. They are there because our minds tell us they are there. They cannot change because our minds tell us that they cannot change. It is all in the mind. A person who smokes for years will tell you it is impossible to stop smoking. This is because his mind is telling him it is impossible. Another person who also smokes for years can suddenly give it all up and simply, stop smoking. This is because this person has found the reason to change his pattern. And the reason must be compelling enough for change.

So how to change your pattern if it is disempowering? Is there any effective way to do it?

I believe that there are many books that teach you how to change and improve yourself but for me, the most effective way was to attend a seminar because I attended one myself. It is called the Patterns Of Excellence by Adam Khoo Learning Technologies Group.

Patterns of Excellence is a workshop that allows you to learn skills to bring out the best patterns in yourself and others. It is not a mere motivational seminar that motivates you only during the seminar. It is a life changing workshop that has already empowered many people. Do check out AKLTG’s website yourself.

I have attended the workshop in 2009 and since then, changes have constantly been happening. My belief system changed and I am putting the skills I learned to improve my life every single day. It has also enabled me to open my life to many others who can help me achieve greater things in time to come. On the same note, I am also contributing so much more to help improve other people’s life.

Therefore, I urge you to take a look at the Patterns of Excellence workshop yourself if you want to change your patterns.

I was attending Dennis Ng‘s Wealth Directions meeting last night and I learned something extremely valuable from him. Go Extra Mile.

Dennis shared that many times, people always think about what they can get. When we are asked to do something, we always think about what we will get out of it in return. When we are paid to do a job, we also think are we paid enough for the job. According to Dennis, such thinking pattern will never make someone successful because of the following laws:

1. The Law of Cause and Effect

The law of cause and effect simply means that a cause will always result in an effect. This law is commonly spoken of in many religions as what you sow is what you reap. Today when you sow an apple seed, you get an apple tree. When you sow good, you reap good. Similarly when you sow evil, you reap evil. It always comes back.

2. The Law of Harvest

The law of harvest is similar to the law of cause and effect. It means that you will eventually have your harvest after you sow your seeds. For example, for your efforts, you will be paid your salary. If you are a businessman, your profits will depend on how much effort you put into your business. For everything that you do, the law of harvest will work to ensure that you are paid accordingly, even if it is not in monetary terms.

3. The Law of Increasing Returns

The law of increasing returns means that your harvest will always come back many times more. An example is with one apple seed, you can grow an apple tree. An apple tree will then give you many apples with their seeds which will in return give you many more apple trees. This is how the law of increasing returns work. This also means that the more good you do, the more good things will come to you but the more bad things you do, your returns is also many times more.

These three laws work hand in hand with each other. And if you can fully appreciate the laws, you will know that the road to riches is to apply these three laws with the final ingredient – G.E.M. What is G.E.M? It stands for Go Extra Mile.

Going the extra mile in whatever we do to serve others regardless and not expecting any reward in return is the first step to riches. This is because your intention is focused on doing good for others. When we go the extra mile and the three laws start to apply themselves back on us, our returns is definitely going to skyrocket. Having said so, if we can learn to go the extra mile for people all the time, we are actually not going any extra mile at all.

The meeting last night has really opened up my mind to a lot of things that I do. I have to admit that I am the calculative kind of person that always put a value on things that I do but henceforth, I now know that going the extra mile in serving is the way of successful people.

Yesterday as I walked through the streets, I cannot help but notice that most of the guys around are either wearing pants or bermudas shorts. If I can recall correctly, in less than 20 years ago, the people around me were wearing shorts instead of bermudas shorts. Today, bermudas shorts have replaced traditional shorts as the trend.

I remember that back when I bought my first pair of bermudas shorts, my dad taught that it looked weird. He even commented that nobody in the right mind will wear this kind of weird looking shorts and dare to walk around on the streets. Today, not only most people wears bermudas shorts, my dad himself is wearing it most of the time too.

Why am I blogging about all this?

The purpose of this blog is to highlight that change can be influenced. When one person starts changing, he may look strange or weird to those around him at first. However, when more people gets influenced and starts changing the same way, soon it will become a permanent change, affecting not only the individual but those around him as well.

The next question to ask is why change? If things are going on fine for you now, why is there a need to change? That answer can only be found in you. Most people will not find a need to change. I was fat due to my bad eating habits. I know they were bad habits, but I did nothing to change. I was unmotivated at work, and I did nothing to change. I did nothing for a long time, until I found the reasons to change.

On one fine day, I attended a course. The course that changed my life. I made a decision – to change. It is not the course that made me change. That was only a catalyst. Somewhere deep inside myself, the reasons to change were already there. I just had to find it, and I had to look deep. And when I found it, I knew I had to change. Nothing can change my mind then. It is as simple as that.

If today you do not find the need to change, even if you know you need the extra bit of exercise to have a healthy body, even if you know you need the extra bit of money to pay for your kids education, or even if you know you need the extra bit of energy to do the things you love, it is because you have not found the reasons for change to happen to you. You need to find the reason why and for whom you need the change for. It can be yourself, your family and love ones, or even your best friend.

If you can identify the reasons for change, and you begin to put in the effort to start changing, you will find that at the beginning, people around you may not accept your changes at first. They may even laugh at you for doing something that is silly but as you persist on, they will begin to accept your changes and when they see a better you, they will start to change too.

So when does change happen? To me, it happens when I made a decision to change. Once I have decided, and committed to the change, there is no turning back. It is true that at times, I have pondered on my decision. This is where the reasons for my change comes in, and it is the reasons that will reaffirm my need to change. To share more, I was a smoker when I was a teenager. I average a packet of cigarettes each day and continued smoking until my wife gave birth to my daughter. Suddenly one day, I had a picture in my mind of my daughter asking me why am I smoking and what do I gain from it? Right at that moment, I made the decision to stop smoking. Right at that moment, I changed. And I did not turn back. The moment I thought of picking up the stick, the question pops up everytime.

Similarly, I found reasons to change other aspects of my life. And these reasons back up my changes everytime I find difficulty to change. And as I discover the more I stick to changing myself for the better, the more the people around me understand my changes. I may appear to look strange at first but as I continue to be the person I want to be instead of the person I was, my changes were slowly accepted.

I am sharing this because I find that it is difficult to accept changes, and it is even more so to start changing yourself. I hope that you can find this post useful if you have already identified that there are changes you want to make in your life, and I wish you success towards a better life.

About a year ago, I did my first dream board as I attended Patterns Of Excellence with my wife. Back then, although I was excited about it, I kind of did it as an ‘assignment’.

Today, a year later, I want to do another Dream Board. The difference is this dream board is really going to be what I will be dreaming of achieving in me and my family’s future. No this post is not about my dream board. This post is about something else, something that I happened to find while sourcing images for my dream board, and it touched my heart deeply and so I feel the need to share.

As I was searching for images, I typed in ‘my dream’ in google image search and the first result caught my attention. This is the picture I saw…

toothpastefordinner.com

Anyway, my interpretation of this picture is that this person has been so negatively affected by people that he is beginning to hate his life to the extent that he is looking for people with similar emotions. In this comic, his dream has come true. But is this the kind of dream that we should all have? When we came to this world, we were innocent. In fact, before that, we were winners. We have fought off millions of others to secure the chance to be born. However, as we arrive into this world and grow up, some of us have allowed ourselves to be negatively influenced by others until we see ourselves as losers. Some, have even developed hatred for their lives as they do not see positive things happen around them.

I was there. I was lost. I did not have any dream because to me, it was futile to even dream. I only had bad dreams. Like the man in the picture, I only could dream of how my life would suffer when I grow old. I only dreamed that with my present situation, it can only get worse when I grow old. I am glad I woke up from such dreams.

Today, I dream differently. I dream BIG. I dream MIGHTY. I know that what I dream is what I will get. Through education, I am now better aware of what I want in my life. 5 years, 10 years, 20 years down the road, I dream of a different me. I dream of different things that I can be doing that will be different from today. I Dare To Dream!

What about you? Have your dreams come true? If you have had a life as I had, or if you are thinking like the man in the picture, I urge you to start changing your dream. Dare to dream differently even if it seems unreal at first. Think of what you want to achieve in your life and start thinking that you can, because you deserve to live your life as it should. And once you start changing your dreams, I can assure you that things will happen for you, as it has and will happen to me.

Had a week’s break and things seemed to have slowed down a fair bit. Lack of energy to push things ongoing. Had similar feedback. Trying to pull myself together. Must review my NLP lessons… Stay focused…

Anyway, still having fun with Photoshop lesson. Thinking of signing up for Advance Photoshop and subsequently Illustrator and Fireworks. Costs are adding up. In Wealthy Academy, I’m now learning on niche selection. Ideas are running wild but eventually, I feel kinda restricted by the amount of knowledge I know in the niches I choose. Still, I tell myself I must succeed in Affiliate Marketing as it is an important milestone. Pressing on…

I’ve also started a ‘slimming program’ about a month back. Results are starting to show (tummy getting smaller). It’s a 3-month program and hopefully by end of third month I have very positive results to show.
Following the ‘destruction’ of my blog, I have taken the plunge to join Wealthy Affiliate University. Need to start somewhere and was considering between Chris Farrell membership site, Stone Evan’s Plug In Profit Site, and the Wealthy Affiliate University. As I strongly believe in starting my success as an affiliate, I’ve decided to go for WA.

First lesson was pretty basic. Introduces what is Internet Marketing. What interests me is the Wealthy Affiliate Step-By-Step Action Plan that allows me to follow its systematic approach to Affiliate Marketing. What’s more, in order for its members to fully understand what they learn instead of skipping all over the place, they have a ‘timing’ system to make sure that you stay focused on the lesson before moving on to the next.

I have also seen many success stories inside Wealthy Affiliate University. And I am sure I can be one of them, as long as I follow the plan and take action.

I am also taking up Photoshop lessons so that I can do my own web graphics. Have attended 2 lessons so far and I think I am in love with Photoshop. Ha ha…

Anyway, I have up to end of this year to succeed in Internet Marketing so there is not much time left. Really putting in my best to stay focused and achieve results.
